Peer Review Process

The IOASD Journal of Business and Management Studies is committed to maintaining the highest standards of scholarly publishing through a rigorous, fair, transparent, and impartial peer review process. Peer review plays a vital role in ensuring the quality, originality, reliability, and academic significance of the research published in the journal.

The journal employs a double-blind peer review system, whereby the identities of both authors and reviewers remain confidential throughout the review process. This approach promotes objective evaluation, minimizes potential bias, and supports independent scholarly assessment.

The peer review process is intended to ensure that manuscripts are evaluated solely on their academic merit, methodological quality, originality, clarity, and relevance to the journal's aims and scope.

Initial Editorial Assessment
All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial assessment before being sent for external peer review.

During this stage, the Editorial Office and the Editor-in-Chief evaluate whether the manuscript:

·       Falls within the journal's aims and scope.

·       Demonstrates originality and scholarly significance.

·       Meets the journal's submission and formatting requirements.

·       Presents a clear research objective and appropriate methodology.

·       Is written to an acceptable academic standard.

·       Complies with the journal's editorial and ethical requirements.

Where necessary, authors may be requested to provide additional information or make minor corrections before the manuscript proceeds to peer review.

Manuscripts that clearly fall outside the journal's scope or fail to satisfy the journal's basic editorial requirements may be declined without external peer review (desk rejection). This process enables timely editorial decisions while maintaining the quality and relevance of published content.

Double-Blind Peer Review
Manuscripts that successfully complete the initial editorial assessment are assigned for external peer review.

IOASDJBMS follows a double-blind peer review model in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed throughout the review process. Authors are expected to remove identifying information from their manuscripts before submission wherever required to facilitate anonymous review.

Each manuscript is normally evaluated by at least two independent reviewers with expertise relevant to the subject area of the submitted work. Additional reviewers may be invited where specialist knowledge is required or where further independent assessment is considered necessary.

The review process is conducted objectively, confidentially, and independently. Reviewer recommendations assist the editorial team in reaching an informed publication decision but do not determine the final editorial outcome.

Reviewer Selection
Reviewers are selected on the basis of their academic qualifications, subject expertise, research experience, and familiarity with the manuscript's area of study.

When selecting reviewers, the Editorial Office seeks individuals who are able to provide independent, objective, and constructive evaluations while maintaining the confidentiality of the review process.

The journal takes reasonable steps to avoid assigning reviewers where actual or potential conflicts of interest may exist.

Review Criteria
Reviewers are requested to evaluate manuscripts objectively and provide constructive comments that assist both the authors and the editorial team.

Manuscripts are generally assessed on the basis of:

·       Originality and contribution to existing knowledge.

·       Relevance to business, management, commerce, economics, finance, entrepreneurship, accounting, marketing, human resource management, public administration, or related disciplines.

·       Clarity of research objectives and research questions.

·       Appropriateness of the research design and methodology.

·       Validity and reliability of data analysis and interpretation.

·       Integration of relevant literature and theoretical foundations.

·       Practical, managerial, or policy implications of the findings.

·       Quality of discussion and conclusions.

·       Organization, clarity, coherence, and academic writing.

·       Overall scholarly merit and suitability for publication.

Reviewers are encouraged to provide balanced, evidence-based, and respectful comments that support the improvement of manuscripts wherever appropriate.

Constructive criticism should focus on the scholarly content of the manuscript and should not include personal remarks regarding the authors or their affiliations.

The journal values timely, objective, and professional peer review as an essential component of maintaining the quality and integrity of scholarly communication.

Reviewer Responsibilities
Reviewers play a critical role in maintaining the quality, credibility, and integrity of the journal. They are expected to conduct reviews in a professional, objective, and ethical manner.

Reviewers are expected to:

·       Accept review invitations only when the manuscript falls within their area of expertise.

·       Conduct reviews objectively, fairly, and without personal bias.

·       Maintain the confidentiality of all manuscripts and related review materials.

·       Disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest before accepting a review assignment.

·       Decline the review if they are unable to provide an impartial evaluation or complete the review within the requested timeframe.

·       Provide constructive, evidence-based, and respectful comments that assist authors in improving their manuscripts.

·       Identify relevant published literature where appropriate.

·       Inform the Editorial Office of suspected plagiarism, duplicate publication, citation manipulation, data fabrication, data falsification, or other ethical concerns identified during the review.

·       Refrain from using unpublished information obtained through peer review for personal, academic, professional, or commercial advantage.

·       Not share, distribute, or delegate the review to another individual without prior approval from the Editor-in-Chief.

Editorial Decisions
Following the completion of peer review, the Editor-in-Chief or the designated handling editor carefully evaluates the reviewer reports together with the overall scholarly merit of the manuscript before reaching a final editorial decision.

Possible editorial decisions include:

Accept: The manuscript is accepted for publication without further revision.

Minor Revision: Minor modifications are required before the manuscript can be accepted.

Major Revision: Substantial revisions are required, and the revised manuscript may undergo an additional round of peer review.

Reject: The manuscript does not meet the journal's scholarly, editorial, or publication standards.

Reviewer recommendations are advisory. The final decision regarding publication rests solely with the Editor-in-Chief or the designated handling editor.

Revision and Resubmission
Authors invited to revise their manuscripts should carefully address all reviewer and editorial comments.

Revised submissions should include:

·       A revised version of the manuscript; and

·       A detailed point-by-point response explaining how each reviewer and editorial comment has been addressed.

Depending on the nature and extent of the revisions, the revised manuscript may be returned to the original reviewers or assigned to additional reviewers before a final editorial decision is made.

Final Acceptance and Production
Once a manuscript has been accepted for publication, it enters the production stage.

The production process may include:

·       Copyediting;

·       Language editing, where necessary;

·       Typesetting and formatting;

·       Proofreading;

·       Author proof review; and

·       Final publication.

Minor editorial or formatting corrections may be made during production provided they do not alter the scholarly content or conclusions of the manuscript.

Confidentiality
The journal treats all submitted manuscripts and peer review materials as confidential throughout the editorial and review process.

Editors, reviewers, and editorial staff are expected to maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts and must not disclose, discuss, or use unpublished information obtained during the review process except where required for legitimate editorial purposes.

Reviewer identities remain confidential unless the journal adopts an alternative review model or disclosure is mutually agreed upon by both the reviewer and the journal.

Appeals
Authors who believe that an editorial decision was based on a factual error or procedural irregularity may submit a written appeal to the Editorial Office, providing appropriate justification and supporting information.

Appeals are considered independently and objectively. The journal may undertake additional editorial assessment or seek further expert opinion where appropriate. Submission of an appeal does not guarantee that the original editorial decision will be changed.
